The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has prioritized tax reforms as Ghana approaches its December 7 presidential election.
Dr. Humphrey Ayim Darke, speaking on Joy News’ PM Express Business Edition, called for practical, achievable reforms to simplify the tax system and reduce the burden on businesses.
He criticized Ghana’s complex tax structure, citing VAT, levies, and nuisance taxes as stifling growth.
Dr. Darke urged reforms that align with macroeconomic goals while balancing the need for government revenue. He emphasized the importance of creating a business-friendly tax environment to drive industrial growth.
Beyond tax reforms, Dr. Darke advocated for innovative measures in exchange rate management, tourism, and remittances to stabilize the economy and boost revenue in the short term.
