“Our Connected Health pillar aims to bring quality healthcare to underserved communities,” said Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson. She is the Head of Foundation, Sustainability & External Communications. “This Mothers’ Day, we celebrate women and support their well-being with care and compassion.”
The Rural Ultrasound Scan initiative addresses a critical gap in maternal healthcare. Many expectant mothers in rural Ghana cannot access routine scans. This often leads to undiagnosed complications and preventable risks.
By offering these services for free, the foundation promotes early detection of complications. It also empowers women with knowledge about their pregnancies. Additionally, mothers received welcome packages with essential baby care items.
“I heard about the event from my mother and decided to come,” said Humphrey, a young attendee. “I’ve now been screened and diagnosed. I’m finally registering for NHIS. It’s been a blessing.”
Another beneficiary, Rebecca Nyame, traveled to Tema Community 25 for antenatal care. She returned after hearing about the event. “I expected a simple scan but received so much more,” she said. “From medical checks to baby items, Telecel Ghana Foundation made me feel seen.”
In partnership with the Ghana Health Service, the event included antenatal education sessions. These focused on maternal nutrition, prenatal care, and self-care practices. This reinforces the foundation’s holistic approach to maternal health.
These Mothers’ Day interventions show Telecel Ghana Foundation’s commitment to equitable healthcare access. They aim to improve one community at a time.
