Former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has pushed back against President Mahama’s claim that Ghana is in economic crisis, asserting instead that the country’s economic growth has rebounded strongly.
Dr. Amin Adam highlighted that the previous administration left gross international reserves of $8.9 billion, which the current government is using to support the cedi. He accused President Mahama of engaging in propaganda during his 2025 State of the Nation Address by omitting this crucial fact.
In contrast, President Mahama warned that Ghana’s economy is suffering due to rising inflation, high debt levels, and a struggling private sector, and pledged bold reforms to restore stability and provide relief to citizens.
This debate reflects sharply differing views on Ghana’s economic condition and policy direction.
