Mary Abena Mintah Mifetu has a story of resilience and sacrifice.
After finishing computer school at KAPS Computer College, her family faced difficulties. Her parents could not support everyone, so she took action. While others chased dreams, she cleaned offices to pay her sister's school fees.
While working at a printing press in Tema, she discovered graphic design. She observed the designers closely and learned from them. “I didn’t go to design school,” she says, “but I soaked it all in.”
As her confidence grew, so did her ambitions. Mary began bringing clients to the printing press for commissions. However, unfair cuts to her commissions led to problems. A disagreement with a friend's family left her without work.
Instead of giving up, Mary took her desktop and printer and sought a new path. “I had no idea where I was going,” she recalls, “but I knew I couldn’t go back.” Her first independent job involved printing calendars for big companies like Senda Motors and Hollard Insurance.
She didn't have the equipment for large jobs, so she outsourced the work. Those early experiences taught her about deadlines and quality control.
Mary's entrepreneurial spirit started earlier when she sold gari and oranges with her mother on weekends. She noticed a woman selling apples nearby who was always kind and generous with customers. Another seller tried to imitate her but failed due to lack of resources.
Mary learned an important lesson: don’t copy blindly; build on your strengths!
In January 2020, Mary registered Major Royal Ventures with savings from school and support from her husband. She invested everything into growing the business despite facing challenges like delayed contracts and demanding clients.
Every setback made her smarter and improved her skills. Today, Mary is a proud mother of five children with a degree in Marketing. Balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship has allowed her to build a strong foundation for her family.
Her academic background has helped shape Major Royal Ventures into a trusted brand in printing and interior décor. The brand is known for honesty, creativity, and attention to detail.
Mary is also committed to mentorship and community support. She speaks with young women aspiring to start their own businesses while sharing her journey openly—struggles included.
In quiet moments, she enjoys reading and networking for new ideas. Her dream is for Major Royal Ventures to become well-known across Ghana in printing and interior décor.
Her advice for the next generation? “Start with what you have. Understand your strengths.”
In a world focused on flashy lifestyles, Mary stands out for honesty and hard-earned success. Her story shows that even small beginnings can lead to something extraordinary through determination.
