Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has unveiled a bold trade agenda anchored on inclusivity, innovation, and investment.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Trade & Investment Summit in London on April 7, she emphasized the need for all 56 member nations—especially smaller and landlocked states—to gain meaningful access to global markets.

Her plan includes expanding digital trade, harmonizing regulations, and supporting women and youth entrepreneurs. Botchwey also stressed attracting blended finance to boost economic resilience and development.

Addressing global trade instability, she positioned the Commonwealth as a source of trust and connection in uncertain times.

Her remarks have set the tone for deeper collaboration across the bloc, with a focus on turning its 2.7 billion population into a thriving and equitable trade powerhouse.
