Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, Acting CEO of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), met with Bono Regional Minister Joseph Addae Akwaboa to discuss revitalizing the cashew industry. They emphasized strategic investments to attract investors and establish processing factories, boosting job creation and economic growth.

Dr. Okrah aligned this initiative with President John Mahama’s 24-hour economy vision, advocating for local cashew processing instead of raw exports.

However, Minister Akwaboa raised concerns about illegal mining (galamsey), as some farmers are selling farmlands to miners, threatening the industry. He pledged strict enforcement against illegal activities to protect farmlands.

The meeting underscored collaboration among government, investors, and farmers to enhance cashew value chains while ensuring environmental sustainability and economic development in Bono.
