The 2024 UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) Business Environment and Competitiveness Survey highlights cautious optimism among businesses in Ghana despite persistent challenges like high costs of machinery, land, and energy.
Notably, 69% of respondents view Ghana's business environment as lagging behind regional and global peers. However, businesses increasingly rely on technology to boost efficiency, with digitalisation driving productivity gains in agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Despite this, outdated systems persist, revealing room for further innovation.
While businesses rated telecommunications, power, and labor availability as strong points, the manufacturing sector faces high production costs and limited access to affordable financing, constraining growth.
Addressing these barriers and fostering technological adoption are crucial to improving Ghana's business competitiveness and investment appeal.
