The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has a new project. They partnered with the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo). Together, they installed a 15 MVA transformer at Sogakope. This location is in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The project cost GH¢969,867.90. Its goal is to enhance power reliability and improve voltage quality. It will ensure consistent electricity supply to towns like Akatsi, Keta, Adidome, Denu, and Sogakope.
Previously, a 10/13 MVA transformer served the area. This older unit often struggled with load pressure. The new 15 MVA transformer will ease this strain on the power system. It aims to reduce fluctuations and improve service delivery.
At a media briefing, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo spoke about the project. She is the Volta Regional General Manager of ECG. She reaffirmed their commitment to providing reliable electricity to residents. She also urged the public to use power responsibly and report issues promptly.
