Vendors blown away by massive turn out at Citi FM/Channel One TV Food Festival - Channel1 News

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) hosted a vibrant food festival. It showcased indigenous dishes and local ingredients. The event celebrated Ghana’s rich culinary heritage.

Vendors encouraged Ghanaians to eat more local foods. They highlighted the nutritional, cultural, and economic benefits of these meals.

Notable sponsors included Jibu, Gino, KOA Natural, and Twellium Industries. Other sponsors were Pan African Savings and Loans, OCM, and the Contract Cleaners Association of Ghana.

Ellen Awo Kata is the Founder of Awo Catering Services. She expressed her excitement about the festival: “This is my fifth time here. It’s not even five o’clock, and it’s already packed! Families and friends are everywhere. If you’re at home, come here now. I try not to miss any Citi FM events.”

For some vendors, this was a new experience. Benita from Tealays said, “The response has been great; many people are buying our tea. This is our first time here at the festival, but we hope to return next year.”

Dennis Asiedu Ababio is the Founder of Palm. He shared his commitment to the event: “We’ve been part of this since day one. This year is even bigger! Yesterday was great; today should be better too. We want to be here every year and suggest hosting it twice a year for more sales opportunities.”

The festival's popularity shows a growing appreciation for local food in Ghana. It plays an important role in strengthening both the economy and cultural identity. The Back to Your Village Food Festival is becoming essential for food lovers and vendors alike.
