Victor Yaw Asante Foundation renovates ICT lab at Mamfe Methodist JHS with GH¢350,000 support

The Foundation’s Chair, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, announced a new initiative. It aims to improve students' access to technology. This will help prepare them for the digital world.

Asante stated that the laboratory will help students become ICT experts. He spoke to the media after the event. The renovation honors the late Galina, a passionate Rotarian who would have turned 53 on that day.

Galina focused on youth development in education and health. These areas are also key focuses of Asante's Foundation. He is also the Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana and a past District Governor of Rotary District 9104.

Asante mentioned this project is just the beginning. The Foundation plans more initiatives, but funding is crucial. “We have many projects lined up,” he said, “but we need to raise funds.”

He highlighted Osabarima Ansah Sasraku III's role in this project. The chief’s commitment to education helped bring this renovation to Mamfe Methodist JHS. “You can only do one project at a time,” Asante noted.

The Foundation values transparency in its funding use. All fundraising efforts are openly declared with audits for accountability.

The renovated lab has fans and ventilators now. Plans include installing air conditioners and ensuring stable electricity supply with generators or backups.

Asante emphasized strengthening existing schools over building new ones. His organization also plans awards for academic excellence in BECE and ICT competitions.

Ms. Dina Opare, Headmistress of Mamfe Methodist JHS, called the lab inauguration a major milestone for digital learning. She said it will be a hub for creativity and exploration.

“Technology is now essential,” she added, “and this lab will help students develop vital skills.” Opare thanked Osabarima and all supporters present at the event.

She expressed gratitude to the Victor Yaw Asante Foundation for their generosity: “This laboratory will greatly impact our students’ lives.”

Florence Maame Hagan, District Governor of Rotary District 9104, encouraged students to seize this opportunity. She urged them to learn and excel so that Mamfe Methodist JHS gains recognition for producing knowledgeable graduates.

A citation from the school honored the Foundation’s contributions: “In recognition of your outstanding generosity towards advancing education through this modern ICT laboratory.”

The Victor Yaw Asante Foundation focuses on health and education for children.
