Businessman Seidu Agongo claims the Akufo-Addo administration targeted him for destruction. He believes they thought he did not fit their prosperity narrative.
Agongo's bank, Heritage Bank, was collapsed by the Bank of Ghana. This happened under Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. He also faced nearly eight years of prosecution for supplying fertilizer to COCOBOD. In a recent interview with Metro TV, he expressed his belief that Ofori-Atta had personal issues with him.
"I think Ofori-Atta has a problem with me," Agongo said. "He knew me before." He added that some people dislike others based on their success or background.
Agongo emphasized that God does not discriminate against anyone. "God can make whoever become whomever," he stated. He cited Barack Obama’s rise from Kenya to U.S. president as an example.
Regarding his prosecution, Agongo called it "political vindictiveness." He explained that some people believe the name Agongo should not succeed. "It’s not just me; many face challenges because of this mindset," he said.
He questioned why he was prosecuted for supplying Lithovit fertilizer when COCOBOD had previously accepted and paid for it. "How do you prosecute me for something you consumed?" he asked.
Agongo believes the Akufo-Addo government was against him because they thought he didn’t belong in business. Some appointees even told him they were trying to cripple him due to his potential political influence.
"Sometimes, they say if we leave you alone, you might sponsor political opponents," Agongo noted. He wondered why authorities would want to collapse someone who fills a market gap as a businessman.
