The West Africa Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCO) announced plans to conduct feasibility studies this year to explore expanding its gas supply to additional areas.
This comes amid ongoing maintenance that has temporarily suspended the reverse gas flow from Takoradi to Tema and led to shutdowns in Lomé, Togo, and Cotonou, Benin. Maintenance is expected to be completed by March 2, 2025, when gas flow will resume.
During a press briefing, Ing. Benoni Owusu Ayeh explained that further investment such as standby compressors and facility upgrades will depend on demand.
WAPCO also revealed that 70% of its maintenance work is complete, as part of a mandatory two-phase cleaning and inspection exercise required every five years to ensure the pipeline's safe and reliable operation.
