Deputy Energy and Green Transition Minister-Designate Richard Gyan-Mensah Deputy Energy and Green Transition Minister-Designate Richard Gyan-Mensah

Deputy Energy and Green Transition Minister-Designate Richard Gyan-Mensah has dismissed claims of a return to prolonged power outages, commonly known as ‘dumsor.’

Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on February 25, 2025, he acknowledged occasional power cuts but insisted they do not constitute a nationwide crisis.

Gyan-Mensah clarified that, unlike the structured outages of the past, the current situation involves sporadic disruptions, primarily due to maintenance work on power plants.

He assured us that once these maintenance activities are completed, power stability will improve. He reiterated the government’s commitment to preventing the recurrence of ‘dumsor’ and ensuring a reliable power supply for the nation.
