Vish Ashiagbor, Country Senior Partner at PWC Ghana, has emphasized that the success of Ghana’s VAT reform depends on collective will and sustained commitment from all stakeholders.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express Business Edition on March 13, he noted that while there is broad consensus on the need for change, effective implementation remains the key challenge.

Ashiagbor highlighted those discussions at the National Economic Dialogue and the government’s budget signal a shared understanding that Ghana’s tax system requires urgent reform.

However, he stressed that achieving meaningful change will require both government and businesses to make difficult choices and actively participate in the process.

He pointed to new initiatives, such as increased public education on tax compliance and quarterly dialogues between the business community, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Ministry of Finance, as positive steps toward transparency and inclusivity.

“So far as there’s transparency and consensus, we should be able to get there,” he stated, adding that consistency will be crucial to ensuring long-term success.
