The Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) is optimistic about the upcoming 2025 Budget Statement, expecting it to be business friendly.
In a statement, GUTA President Dr. Joseph Obeng welcomed the government's commitment to reducing the cost of doing business by streamlining taxes and eliminating burdensome levies.
The association anticipates the removal of nuisance taxes, restructuring of VAT, and a stable duty payment system at ports. GUTA also urges the introduction of a tax amnesty program to broaden the tax base and ensure compliance.
Additionally, they advocate for policies that stabilize the local currency, reduce inflation, and lower interest rates. The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present the budget on March 11, 2025, reflecting recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue scheduled for March 3-4.
