“We’re committed to bridging digital literacy skills gap”- ALX Country Manager

Mr. Asiedu emphasized the importance of the Youth & Tech Dialogue (YTD). The event aims to unite key players in Ghana’s technology ecosystem. It also showcases how technology impacts youth development.

He noted that many players were working in isolation. YTD serves as a platform to connect them. It highlights technology's power and its positive effects on Ghanaian youth. Since ALX hosts YTD, they feature their own talents as panelists and discussion participants.

When asked about transitioning youth from consumers to creators, Nana Darko Asiedu expressed optimism. He stated that Ghana’s digital market is set for significant growth. The progress over the past five years supports this belief.

Professor Fred McBagonluri, President of Academic City University College, urged youth to engage actively in digital transformation. He stressed that they should become digital creators instead of just consumers. The world is moving towards a digital future, and Ghana's youth must participate.

In his keynote address, Prof. McBagonluri highlighted young people's role in Ghana’s digital revolution. He said the greatest asset now is the energy and creativity of the youth. With over 60% of Ghana’s population under 25, there is immense potential for change.

He acknowledged the need for capacity building and support for young people. He advocated integrating coding into basic education and expanding access to tech hubs. Partnerships with global tech companies can provide certifications and training opportunities.

Prof. McBagonluri also stressed affordable internet access and improved infrastructure in schools and communities. He called on stakeholders to include these strategies in Ghana’s national development plan.

“Building a transformative digital revolution is a national mission,” he stated. It requires clear milestones and government leadership supported by private sectors and educational institutions.

A highlight of YTD was a panel discussion titled "Tech Forward: Building a Collaborative Youth and Tech Ecosystem." Panelists included Dr. Vandyck Lomotey, Constance Swaniker, Esinam Adorkor, with Marie-Noelle Nwakolo moderating.

They discussed collaboration's role in driving digital transformation and bridging skills gaps in tech fields. They also explored opportunities for young innovators and entrepreneurs.

Organized by ALX, YTD will become an annual event aimed at fostering youth participation in Ghana’s digital journey.
