The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) is taking steps to address price disparities in the cocoa sector as part of its efforts to curb smuggling.
This initiative comes in the wake of the interception of 1,115 gallons of cocoa beans at the Ave-Havi border, destined for Togo, which has now been handed over to COCOBOD while investigations continue.
In an interview with Citi News, Director of Special Services, Charles Amenyaglo, explained that COCOBOD is deploying innovative measures to track and block smuggling routes.
The organization is conducting spot checks and thorough searches at access routes to identify individuals involved in smuggling. Additionally, a committee is working on strategies to bridge price disparities within the sector.
