Franklin Cudjoe, Founding President of IMANI Africa, has called for a national budget that prioritizes the needs of citizens over macroeconomic figures. Speaking on The Keypoints, he argued that a budget’s true value lies in improving healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu criticized the previous administration’s economic management, calling it the worst in the Fourth Republic. He dismissed claims that COVID-19 was the primary cause of Ghana’s financial struggles, noting that other African nations fared better.
He attributed Ghana’s economic downturn to excessive election-related spending, which eroded investor confidence. Kwakye Ofosu insisted that reckless fiscal policies, not external shocks, were responsible for the country’s current economic difficulties.
