Absa Bank Ghana LTD launched a new initiative called She Business.
Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway, the Managing Director, spoke at the event. He emphasized that this launch aims to support women entrepreneurs.
He stated it is an opportunity to help MSMEs thrive. The She Business program builds on the success of EMERGE. This previous program provided over GH¢800 million in funding for women-led enterprises.
The updated offering includes financial access and advisory services. It also provides business insurance and market access opportunities. Networking platforms and international trade trips are part of the package too.
Absa offers collateralized loans up to US$1 million for established SMEs. This includes loans for women-owned businesses looking to grow.
Audrey Abakah, Director of SME Banking at Absa, discussed the program's evolution. She noted that their approach reflects what women value most: practical support and affordable credit.
She Business aims to meet these needs effectively. Gottfried Odamtten-Sowah from Mastercard Foundation Ghana expressed support for this initiative. He highlighted their commitment to addressing barriers faced by women entrepreneurs.
The launch event gathered women business owners, corporate leaders, and policymakers. Representatives included those from Mastercard Foundation, Hollard Ghana, Telecel Ghana, DHL Group, GEPA, and DBG.
During the event, three official Champions of Absa She Business were announced. They are Grace Amey-Obeng from FC Group of Companies, Abigail Amma Afriyie Abora from Aide Chemists Ltd., and Freda Sarkodie Donkor from FH Depot.
