YEA partners with Shatta Wale’s SHAXI to create jobs for Ghanaian youth

The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, has announced a new partnership. This collaboration is with dancehall star Shatta Wale and his ride-hailing initiative, SHAXI. The goal is to create thousands of jobs for young people in Ghana.

The YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles registered on the SHAXI platform. Each vehicle will receive GHC500 worth of fuel coupons monthly for six months. This support aims to reduce costs for drivers and encourage unemployed youth to participate.

Mr. Basintale stated, “This partnership shows what can happen when government and creative minds unite.” He emphasized that the focus is on empowering youth and transforming lives.

To further encourage full-time operations, SHAXI vehicles running 24 hours will get extra benefits. The aim is for each vehicle to employ at least two young people in shifts. This approach will double employment impact while maximizing productivity and earnings for drivers.

Shatta Wale expressed excitement about this collaboration. He said, “This is bigger than just a ride-hailing app.” He believes it offers young Ghanaians a chance at a better future and he’s proud to partner with YEA.

According to him, this partnership serves as a model for public-private cooperation. It leverages the influence of creative industry leaders to tackle national challenges like unemployment.
