11 galamseyers arrested at Teleku-Bokazo

The Ellembelle District Police Command has made arrests for illegal mining. They worked with an anti-galamsey task force. Eleven people were arrested at Mile 3, near Teleku-Bokazo in the Western Region.

The suspects include two Chinese nationals and nine Ghanaians. They posed as national security operatives. The police and task force conducted a swoop on them.

This operation was part of a national campaign against illegal mining. The campaign is led by Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Ko Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

Mr. Joseph Agyekum, the District Chief Executive (DCE), spoke about their goals. He stated that the district will focus on responsible mining. He emphasized that it will be a no-go area for galamseyers.

Agyekum assured that they would work diligently to address this issue. He mentioned they would do so without pressure or influence from outside sources.
