2 drivers remanded for allegedly stealing excavator

Two drivers, Ali Zakary and Dabare Toffic, have been remanded by the Amasaman Circuit Court for allegedly stealing an excavator valued at USD 108,000.

The men face charges of conspiracy to steal, with Zakary also charged with theft and Toffic with abetment.

Both denied the charges and will return to court on December 16, 2024.

Their alleged accomplices, including Desmond Appiah, Ernest Addo, Hamidu Nashiru Yabre, and two others, remain at large.

The complainant, businessman Alhaji Ali Seidu, had imported eight new excavators.

Zakary and Toffic are accused of conspiring to steal one of the machines, which was never delivered to its warehouse.

The excavator was reportedly intended for sale before being recovered by the police.
