After months of investigations, two former government officials have been charged.
They are Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi and Solomon Asamoah.
The charges come from the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
They are accused of causing financial loss to the state.
Prof. Ameyaw-Ekumfi was a board member of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
Asamoah was the Chief Executive of GIIF at that time.
Both face charges for conspiracy to commit a crime.
They also face charges for intentionally misusing public funds.
These charges were filed at the High Court in Accra.
Dr. Dominic Akurutinga Ayine stated that in February 2019, they authorized a $2 million payment.
This payment was made from GIIF to Africa Investor Holdings Limited.
It was for preliminary work on the Sky Train project, which was never built.
