The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 20-year-old Osei Parker, a Ghanaian-British national, for attempting to smuggle 19.4kg of high-grade cannabis, known as “loud.”

Parker was intercepted at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport during clearance from an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Bangkok on April 3, 2025.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, officers found 36 parcels of cannabis hidden in Parker’s luggage.

The suspect claimed he is a Computer Science student at the University of East London and was in Bangkok to collect the drugs for delivery in Nigeria.

In related operations, a 75-year-old man in Abia State was caught with 1.6kg of skunk, while another suspect was nabbed with over 2,000 ampoules of pentazocine.

The NDLEA says it remains committed to cracking down on drug trafficking networks across Nigeria.
