3 In court over alleged kidnapping, assault of businessman

Albert Tetteh Botchway, David Burke, and Promise Lamptey, all charged with kidnapping Kwadwo Agyapong Berry, appeared in court after allegedly detaining the businessman over a failed business deal.

Two other suspects, Awudu Balm and Katanga, remain at large.

Burke and Lamptey were granted bail by the court, while Botchway submitted a medical excuse.

The prosecution revealed Berry was held for hours at Laboma Beach under false accusations, leading to public outrage.

Authorities have also launched efforts to arrest Balm and Katanga.

The case has been adjourned to February 3, 2025, as investigations continue.
