3 accused in illegal mining case appear in court

Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed face charges in court. They are accused of illegal mining (galamsey) in the Eastern Region.

The police reported that the suspects were arrested on March 21, 2025. Local youth from Akoase captured them and turned them over to the police.

The court has granted bail to the accused. They must return for a hearing on April 25, 2025.

Investigations continue regarding two Chinese suspects. These individuals were reportedly arrested with the three accused.
