4 students of Christian Methodist SHS arrested over violent clash with community members

Four students of Christian Methodist Senior High School (SHS) in Accra have been arrested following a violent confrontation with residents of New Aplaku in the Ga South Municipality.

Police retrieved knives and scissors from the students, prompting increased security presence at the school. Military and police officers have since taken control of the area to restore calm.

The clashes, which occurred on Thursday, February 27, 2025, left two people, including a student, with serious injuries.

The violence reportedly erupted after some students assaulted a colleague accused of stealing a mobile phone.

The accused fled to a nearby shop for refuge but was pursued by the angry group, resulting in the shop being vandalized and a resident being stabbed in the eye with scissors.

Tensions escalated further on Friday morning when some students allegedly launched another attack while wielding weapons. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
