Adu-Boahene accused of stealing GH¢49.1m explains how amount was disbursed

Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), is accused of laundering GH¢49.1 million. He provided an explanation in a letter from his lawyers.

In the memo addressed to the National Security Coordinator, he detailed how the funds were used. The money covered various operational purposes and payments. These included allowances for Members of Parliament (MPs) and support for a special aide to the President Elect.

Additionally, funds were allocated for elections special operations and various personnel costs. Mr. Adu-Boahene clarified that these transactions involved two accounts created by National Security. These accounts were established to address urgent operational demands.
