Adamus Mines, a prominent mining company, was attacked early on December 12, 2024, by a group of heavily armed individuals.
Led by Laurent Gaba, an alleged illegal immigrant from Togo, and Isaac Ackun, an employee of BCM Ghana Limited, the attackers stormed the facility, assaulting staff and vandalizing critical infrastructure.
The assault caused significant damage to administrative offices, vehicles, and mining equipment, with losses estimated at millions of cedis.
Authorities suspect the attack was an attempt to seize control of the company, owned by Angela List.
The Western Regional Police quickly apprehended the suspects, including Gaba and Ackun, and launched an investigation.
Adamus Mines condemned the attack, urging the government to ensure justice.
Solomon Owusu, President of Lands and Mines Watch, also denounced the assault, vowing to protect the mining industry.
