Businessman, farmer granted bail for allegedly defrauding estate developer

A businessman and farmer has been granted bail after being accused of defrauding an estate developer. The suspect, identified as Samuel Nkrumah, reportedly misled the developer regarding the ownership of a parcel of land located in the Greater Accra Region. Allegations state that he presented false documents to support his claims, leading to significant financial losses for the developer who invested substantial funds based on these representations.

During a recent court hearing, Nkrumah was granted bail set at 100,000 Ghana cedis with two sureties. His defense argued that he had no intention to deceive and was merely caught in a complex situation regarding land ownership disputes. The case has drawn attention due to rising concerns over land fraud in Ghana's real estate sector, which continues to affect investors' confidence.

The court urged both parties to seek an amicable resolution outside of litigation while emphasizing the importance of transparency in property transactions. Nkrumah is expected to return to court next month for further proceedings as investigations continue into the matter.
