A Chinese national, Dai Mengsheng, who was arraigned before the Takoradi District Court on an alleged murder charge, has been granted police enquiry bail.
His bail was set at GH¢500,000 with three sureties, one of whom must be justified. As part of the conditions, his passport has been seized to ensure his presence for court proceedings.
The bill of indictment, a key legal document outlining the charges, is expected to be ready for the High Court within two to three weeks.
Mengsheng was arrested on February 14, 2025, following a complaint by businessman David Anthony Nicol-Sey.
The charges against him, based on advice from the Attorney General’s office, include preparation to commit murder under Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act.
