Civil servant accused of defrauding businessman

The case is adjourned to January 28, 2025 The case is adjourned to January 28, 2025

Mercy Lilian Danquah, a 41-year-old civil servant, was arraigned before the Circuit Court in Accra on December 27, 2024, for allegedly conspiring with contractor Kofi Agyei Asante to defraud businessman Issah Abdullah of GH¢360,000.

Danquah pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud and defrauding by false pretense.

The case stems from an incident on June 13, 2024, when Danquah, along with Asante, reportedly misrepresented a need for laptops, leading Abdullah to provide 40 Dell laptops valued at GH¢360,000.

Despite initial payments, Danquah and Asante failed to settle the debt, leading to Abdullah’s complaint.

Danquah was granted bail, and a bench warrant has been issued for Asante’s arrest.

The case is adjourned to January 28, 2025.
