Couple arrested for chaining and abandoning nine-year-old son in Bush

The Awutu Bereku District Police Command has arrested a couple for allegedly chaining and abandoning their nine-year-old son in a bush at Gomoa Nkwantanan.

The motive behind the act remains unclear, but reports suggest the boy was punished for his alleged stubbornness.

A local resident, James Mensah, discovered the boy in distress and reported the case to the police.

“I met the boy in the bush with a chain on his leg. He told me his father had left him there to die. I immediately reported it to the Awutu Bereku Police Station,” Mensah stated.

The suspects, Bismark Odoi, 35, and Saviour Arthur, 33, initially went into hiding but were later apprehended by the police.

According to the boy, his father punished him for being late to school.

“I explained why I was late, but he still put a chain on my leg and left me in the bush for two days,” the boy recounted.

The police have launched an investigation into the case.
