A Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced Richard Arthur, a 24-year-old small-scale miner, to two years in prison for burning his stepfather’s mud house, valued at GH¢70,000.
Arthur, also known as Afianga, pleaded guilty to causing unlawful damage and asked for leniency.
The incident occurred in Achiase near Aboso, where tensions rose after his stepfather, Kojo Donkor, confronted him for stealing rice meant for his siblings.
Arthur set the house ablaze after threatening Donkor, destroying personal items worth GH¢50,000.
He fled but was later arrested on September 30, 2024, by locals.
Arthur confessed to the crime and was sentenced after police investigations.
