An Accra Circuit Court has ordered a mental evaluation for Adina-Akapo Abdou Moudjibou. He is a businessman extradited from Togo for multiple robberies.
Moudjibou faces robbery charges, but his plea is reserved. His alleged accomplice, Marzouk Alidu, is charged with abetment of crime.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richard Amoah is prosecuting the case. He informed the court that Moudjibou showed unusual behavior after giving his statement.
ASP Amoah requested a psychiatric evaluation due to Moudjibou's worsening condition. He noted that Moudjibou sometimes defecated and consumed his waste.
The prosecution also wanted to amend the charge sheet. It previously stated that Moudjibou was at large despite being extradited from Togo.
Judge Basilia Adjei Tawiah did not take pleas and remanded Moudjibou into National Intelligence Bureau custody. Alidu received bail but has not met the conditions yet.
The case will continue on June 3, 2025. The complainant, Dr. Jemimah Asare Morjah, works at Accra Regional Hospital and lives in East Legon.
On April 13, 2024, around 3:00 AM, Alidu allegedly entered her bedroom through the washroom window. He was masked and armed while demanding valuables.
Alidu ransacked the room and stole $200,000 in cash along with jewelry worth GH₵43,000. He also took a registered CZ 75.5P pistol belonging to her husband.
After packing the stolen items into a backpack, he warned Dr. Morjah to stay inside before fleeing.
Police investigations confirmed the robbery and revealed that Moudjibou transported Alidu to the scene on a motorbike.
On September 4, 2024, police arrested Alidu at East Airport after another robbery involving Moudjibou. During questioning, he admitted transporting Moudjibou to Dr. Morjah’s house for this robbery.
Alidu provided police with Moudjibou’s contact details and led them to Madina Libya Quarters; however, Moudjibou escaped.
On September 7, 2024, Alidu helped police reconstruct the crime scene and pointed out where he dropped off Moudjibou.
He also directed officers to other locations linked to similar robberies. An arrest warrant was issued for Moudjibou and Interpol was notified.
On January 30, 2025, Interpol Togo informed Ghana Police about Moudjibou’s arrest in Lomé. He was extradited to Ghana on May 14, 2025 for prosecution.
That same day an identification parade occurred at CID Headquarters; however, Alidu did not recognize Moudjibou as his accomplice.
In his caution statement though, Moudjibou admitted involvement in multiple robberies with help from a motor rider and Mohammed Djando who remains at large.
Investigations are ongoing.
