Benjamin Appiah Boateng, a 35-year-old trader, has been remanded in police custody by the Accra Circuit Court 9 for allegedly defrauding two individuals of USD300,000 and GHC10,445,000 through fraudulent online investments.

Boateng reportedly promised to invest the funds in UDST and Binance cryptocurrency platforms but failed to deliver. His plea was not taken as he faces charges of fraud and theft.

Boateng was introduced to the victims by business consultant Mr. Agyapong.

Despite assuring them of successful investments, he stopped responding when one complainant requested to withdraw funds. He later sent a voice note claiming he had gambled away the money.

Boateng admitted to the offense during police questioning. He will reappear in court on January 13, 2025.
