A Weija Circuit Court has remanded 24-year-old Michael Ofori, alias Sammy, for allegedly stealing and damaging electricity fuses worth GH¢15,840 belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Sammy admitted to causing unlawful damage but denied stealing.
He will reappear in court on November 27.
Police Inspector Joseph Barabu said Sammy was caught on November 15 dismantling fuses at an ECG facility in Ayigbe Town but fled, abandoning his tools.
The next day, the complainant, Mohammed Ibrahim, spotted and facilitated his arrest.
During interrogation, Sammy allegedly confessed to removing 12 fuses and led police to other vandalized ECG sites.
Authorities noted a recent spike in thefts targeting ECG installations in the area, heightening security concerns.
