EPA asks religious bodies, entertainment centres to comply with prescribed noise limits

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has issued a warning.

Religious bodies, entertainment centers, and industries must follow noise limits.

This is especially important during early mornings and late nights.

These measures aim to protect community peace, health, and wellbeing.

The EPA defines noise pollution as excessive or disturbing sounds.

Such sounds can harm human health and the ecosystem.

To combat noise nuisance, the EPA developed a standard.

It is called the Ghana Standard for Health Protection: GS 1222:2018.

This standard sets permissible noise levels for different areas.

These areas include residential, commercial, and industrial zones.

The EPA urges all stakeholders to comply with this standard.

They emphasize that ongoing efforts are needed for a healthy environment.

This information was shared in a press release on Wednesday.

It was issued to mark International Noise Awareness Day.
