The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested eleven suspects. They are linked to illegal activities in Akyem Fichser, near Bunsu.
This operation followed a tip-off about the miners' damage to local tree plantations.
Among those arrested are nine Ghanaians:

- Philip Tetteh (52)
- Abdul Raham (27)
- Philip Duvor (40)
- Joseph Asare (32)
- Charles Manu (35)
- Joseph Araboga (32)
- Daniel Bangah (20)
- Amoako Isaac (25)
Two Burkinabe citizens were also detained: Jey Done (40) and Adoma Aboubakar (25).
Authorities report that illegal mining has destroyed large areas of tree plantations in Fichser.
Police seized an excavator from the scene as evidence.
The eleven suspects are currently in custody and will face court soon.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ohene Boadi Bossman spoke to the media in Kyebi. He emphasized the police's commitment to fighting crime and maintaining order.
DCOP Bossman assured residents that police efforts against illegal activities will continue.
This arrest highlights Ghanaian authorities' ongoing fight against illegal mining. Such activities threaten both the environment and local communities.
The police plan to pursue these cases vigorously to deter further illicit actions.
