The Dansoman Circuit Court is set to hear the case of The Republic versus Togo Desire Nelson, a 35-year-old engineer accused of defrauding a teacher, Dennis Atsu Dake, of GH¢75,000.00 under the pretense of purchasing an unregistered KIA Sportage vehicle from Togo.

Initially scheduled for January 15, 2025, the hearing was adjourned after Nelson failed to appear, rescheduled to February 12, 2025.

The prosecution alleges that Nelson collected the money on January 31, 2024, but failed to deliver the vehicle.

An investigation revealed that Nelson admitted to collecting the funds with the intention to purchase the vehicle, but lost the money to a Lebanese car dealer in Togo.

The court will now decide on Nelson's guilt or innocence.
