Nana Ama Amissah III, ex-Queenmother of Mankessim, and five others are set to appear before the Weija-Gbawe Magistrate Court over the 2019 shooting that left two dead, including Mankessim’s NIB Director, Samuel Ampofo.
The case, linked to a chieftaincy feud, saw violence erupt during a queenmother installation.
Allegations point to Amissah masterminding the attack, with armed thugs hired to disrupt the ceremony.
A police probe uncovered evidence implicating the accused, including witness testimony and communications. The incident followed a Cape Coast High Court ruling that annulled Amissah's legitimacy.
With six years of investigation by the Ghana Police’s Cold Case Unit, the case highlights deep-rooted tensions in Mankessim’s chieftaincy disputes.
The accused face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit violence.
