A 26-year-old farmer, Yaw Nimoah, has been arrested by the Dambai Police Command for allegedly killing his 60-year-old mother, Madam Salomey Ama Serwaa, with a pestle at Yabram, a suburb of the Oti Region capital, Dambai.
According to Mr. Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, Assembly member for Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, Nimoah had a history of threatening his mother with a cutlass. His behavior had raised concerns in the community, leading to his previous arrest for threatening a neighbor.
On the day of the incident, a good Samaritan witnessed Nimoah shouting for help, claiming someone had smashed his mother’s head. When local leaders arrived, they found Madam Serwaa lying in a pool of blood. The Police were informed, and Nimoah was promptly arrested.
The deceased has been deposited at the morgue of WoraWora Government Hospital, while an investigation into the incident has begun. Nimoah remains in police custody.
