The Toase Magistrate Court has fined a 19-year-old farmer GH₵4,800.00.
Daniel Mahama stole five sacks of ginger worth GH₵17,500.00 in Gyankobaa.
He pleaded guilty and was convicted based on his plea.
If he cannot pay the fine, he will serve 12 months in prison.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Ntim Boadu prosecuted the case.
He told the court that both Mahama and Mary Appiah are farmers from Gyankobaa.
Appiah's sons saw Mahama harvesting her ginger multiple times.
On March 21, Appiah caught Mahama in the act on her farm.
She reported him to the Toase police immediately.
Mahama was arrested and admitted to stealing in his caution statement.
He claimed he sold the ginger to an unnamed woman.
After further investigation, he was charged and brought to court.
