The Ghana Police Service has arrested former Sunyani West MP and ex-Minister of Employment, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, along with two others, in connection with violent clashes during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.

The February 2 incident in Nsoatre led to the tragic death of Kotoko fan Francis Frimpong, alias Pooley.

A police search at suspect Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence uncovered bloodstained clothing and a loaded MP 23 pistol.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has assured a thorough probe, deploying a special CID team to assist investigations.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association has banned Nsoatreman FC’s home venue amid growing concerns over football-related violence.
