Health ministry, FDA destroy GH¢20m opioids

The Ministry of Health destroyed a consignment of seized opioids. The destruction took place in Ashaiman, near Tema, last Friday.

These opioids were valued at GH¢20 million. They were believed to be on their way to Niger.

The drugs were confiscated during a joint operation at Tema Port. Intelligence and regulatory authorities conducted this operation.

The illicit drugs were hidden in 230 cartons. They were seized on March 14 after a High Court order.

The destroyed items included 92 cartons of Timaking Tapentadol. There were also 10 cartons of Rahol Tapentadol and 128 cartons of Trafadol. These drugs came in the form of capsules and tablets.
