House help denies delibrate acid attack on SHS leaver

A 26-year-old house help, Ernest Agyei, has denied intentionally splashing acid on Senior High School graduate Benjamin Asante, insisting it was a mistake.

Agyei claims he thought he was pouring water, as they had been playfully splashing water on each other while cleaning.

However, Asante disputes this, claiming Agyei attacked him out of anger after a disagreement with another person.

The incident, which occurred on December 22, 2021, left Asante hospitalized for three months.

Agyei is out on GHC50,000 bail and faces charges in connection to the incident.

He maintains his innocence and is scheduled for further court hearings on February 5, 19, and 26, 2025.
