The case has been adjourned to February 25, 2025 The case has been adjourned to February 25, 2025

Daniel Asiedu, the suspect in the murder of Abuakwa North MP J.B. Danquah Adu, wept in court on Wednesday, expressing frustration over his prolonged trial.

Scheduled for retrial after nine years, Asiedu insisted on his innocence and claimed Ghana’s judicial system was unfair.

The court, presided over by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, calmed him down before proceedings began.

Defence counsel Sophia Armstrong informed the court of their intention to apply for bail, but no application had been filed yet.

The prosecution, led by Yvonne Yaache-Adomako, stated that the trial would commence once a jury was empanelled.

The case has been adjourned to February 25, 2025.

Asiedu’s retrial was ordered after a jury delivered a split verdict in December 2024.
