A 21-year-old final-year student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor, has been remanded in police custody over the alleged murder of Joana Deladem Yabani, also a final-year student.

Tuffuor was arrested on February 27, 2025, after Joana’s lifeless body was discovered on campus. University security alerted the police, leading to his detention.

Reports suggest the two were in a romantic relationship at the time of the incident.

He appeared before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors secured a remand to allow further investigations. The suspect is expected back in court on March 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding Joana’s tragic death.
