A 15-year-old boy in Accra has been sentenced to 12 months in juvenile prison after being found guilty of conspiring with another teenager to murder a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa for money rituals.
The juvenile, who had been on remand for three years, pleaded with the court for forgiveness, blaming his actions on the influence of the devil.
Presiding Judge Bernice Mensimah Ackon highlighted that under the Juvenile Justice Act, the boy had effectively served his three-year sentence.
However, due to the severity of the crime, the court added 12 months to allow him to learn a vocational skill at the Senior Correctional Centre.
The trial involved two teenagers, with one sentenced to life imprisonment.
