Four people have been arrested by the Eastern North Police. They committed various offenses during this year’s Kwahu Easter celebrations.
Thousands of revelers from Ghana and beyond attended the popular festivities. Despite warnings from security agencies, some individuals broke the rules and were caught.
DCOP Isaac Kwadwo Asante, the Eastern North Regional Police Commander, confirmed the arrests. He stated that one of the suspects is female and all are in custody.
“Four individuals were arrested for not following police directives,” he said. “Some tried to steal from patrons during the events.”
DCOP Asante provided details on the offenses. One person was caught snatching a phone. Another used electric shock devices to rob participants. A third suspect had cannabis-laced toffee, known as “wee toffee.”
Investigations are ongoing. The suspects may appear in court on Tuesday if needed.
DCOP Asante urged remaining celebrants to follow the law as celebrations continue. He also mentioned that police will review their security operations for any gaps. This aims to ensure safety for all visitors enjoying Easter on the Kwahu mountains.
